Sylvia Roberts, a native of Texas, graduated from Tulane University law school in 1956 and did post-graduate work at the Institute of Comparative Law, Paris, France. Since 1959, Roberts has worked as an attorney in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She served as member and secretary of the Louisiana Commission on the Status of Women, established by the Louisiana Legislature in 1968.
